Multitrack screen recording. Every source on its own track.
Download Separ8 for macOS
Version 1.0 (build 145) · 1.7 MB · Requires macOS 26 or newer on an Apple Silicon Mac
Installing
- Double-click the downloaded file and follow the installer. It will ask for your
password — it installs the app and a small audio component.
- Your sound will cut out for a second during installation. That is expected.
- Separ8 needs an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later). Intel Macs are not
supported yet — if that affects you, say so and it can be added.
- The first time you open Separ8, macOS asks permission for screen recording, your
microphone and your camera. Screen recording is granted in System Settings, and
you may need to quit and reopen Separ8 before it takes effect.
Recording your computer's audio
- Tick Computer audio in the Tracks list. Separ8 routes your Mac's sound
through itself so it can be recorded, and passes it on so you still hear it.
- The row underneath tells you where you are hearing it. You can change that if you want to
monitor somewhere else.
Every source records to its own file — screen, webcam, each microphone, and computer
audio. Nothing is mixed together, so you can adjust them separately afterwards.
Something went wrong?
- Use Report a bug at the bottom of the Separ8 window. It copies the
technical details for you and opens the form — paste them in.
- Those details matter more than they look. Most problems here depend on your specific audio
setup, which is almost impossible to describe from memory.
